Natural fibre composites are versatile, sustainable materials that can be engineered to deliver thermal insulation, fire resistance, water repellency, and corrosion resistance. Through appropriate fibre selection, matrix choice, and advanced treatments, these composites are becoming viable alternatives to conventional synthetic materials across construction, automotive, marine, and packaging industries. Natural fibre composites (NFCs) are engineered materials made by combining plant-based fibres such as jute, coir, sisal, banana, hemp, and flax with a matrix (polymer or bio-resin). These materials are increasingly recognized as sustainable alternatives to synthetic fibre composites (like glass or carbon fibre) due to their environmental, economic, and functional advantages.
