This presentation explores the rapidly evolving textile and fashion industries through a human ecological lens, examining the deeply intertwined, reciprocal relationships between human behaviour and our environments. Clothing serves as our most intimate "second skin," linking individual consumer choices directly to global natural ecosystems, industrial supply chains, and socioeconomic structures. By mapping the fashion lifecycle onto an ecological systems framework, we will analyze how hyper-consumption disrupts local communities and natural resources. This highlights the urgent need to reshape our cultural values, moving from a destructive linear model to a sustainable, circular ecosystem that honours both human and environmental well-being.
